Residential
Sittingbourne No-Grass Wildlife Garden Design

This residential project in Sittingbourne took on a classic challenge: a small, awkwardly shaped plot with funky fence lines and slight tiers that didn’t feel intentional. Sustainable Garden Solutions designed and delivered a transformation that improved flow, considered sun positions, and turned the space into something new, full of life and genuinely wildlife-friendly.
A key decision was going fully no grass. With the plot size, we could move away from turf monoculture and build a more diverse and interesting garden instead. We created a network of self-binding aggregate paths to guide movement through the space, then added a curved sandstone seating area and pergola to form a calm outdoor living moment that still feels connected to nature.
From there, we layered in habitat and seasonal interest without letting the garden feel cluttered. The build includes a nature pond, pollinator-friendly planting, wildflower turf, planting chosen to support birds, a bird bath, and standing deadwood to add structure while boosting biodiversity. The result is a Sittingbourne garden that punches well above its size and keeps improving as it matures.
