RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 Isle of Muck

At RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024 at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London, Sustainable Garden Solutions helped deliver The Original Muck Boot Co’s “Island of Muck” recreation to celebrate 25 years of Muck. After the brand travelled to the Isle of Muck in Scotland for a film shoot, the brief was to bring that raw, rugged atmosphere into the middle of London and make it feel authentic rather than “Chelsea perfect”.
This build was all about detail-led storytelling. We hand-grew Scottish thistles and gorse so the planting had true native character, and we introduced Scots pine to give the stand height, structure and that windswept coastal-woodland feel. Running through the space, we built a babbling brook designed for real wellie testing, adding sound, movement and a practical interaction that made the stand feel alive.
To complete the scene, we worked the set-build finishing hard. A Land Rover Defender sat naturally within the landscape, and one of the standout touches was creating the track it left behind. We layered tiny turf shreds with mixed aggregate and mud, shaping it until it looked settled and real, like it had always been part of the ground. The longer visitors looked, the more moments they found, including people who’d actually been to the Isle of Muck and recognised how close it felt. The project achieved the highest marks and remains one of those show builds that’s as rewarding up close as it is from a distance.
