Modern Pergola & Decking Garden Tonbridge
Compact Garden Re-Landscape in Tonbridge transformed a small space that had an open middle, planters down the sides, very little interest, and a rotting deck that needed to go. The client wanted more than a tidy refresh. They wanted a modern garden with flare and features, a proper hosting space, changes in material, and new life within a compact footprint.
Before removing anything, Sustainable Garden Solutions worked through the surrounding level changes and how the garden met neighbouring contours so the new layout would feel like it belonged rather than being forced in. The main challenge was fitting multiple elements into a small area without making it feel crowded. We solved that with a layout built around soft curves and shapes that ebb and flow around seating zones, edges, and transitions, linking each feature while keeping movement natural.
The finished build includes millboard composite decking, floating pergola and arbour structures, and large integrated planters with climbers. We also delivered turfing, blockwork with capped details, Chelmer Valley brickwork, brick slip cladding, paving, and clean pointing. To add vertical impact without losing usable floor space, we integrated a living wall, bringing height, texture, and that extra wow factor.
Everything was then softened and unified with ornamental planting so the garden feels calm, welcoming, and cohesive despite the number of features. It’s a small space now built for modern outdoor living, with structure, planting, and detail working together to make it feel bigger and better used.
