HydroPlanter Install & Drainage Works, Manchester

For this commercial project in Manchester we supported the principal contractor with the on-site delivery of a HydroPlanter installation on a live education site. Sustainable Garden Solutions handled the full sequence from safe setup through to planting and final remedials, bringing tight controls, tidy workmanship and a clean, handover-ready finish on a public-facing project.

Working in an active environment, We maintained clear exclusion zones using barriers, cones and signage, and managed a dedicated delivery and storage area to keep movements organised and disruption minimal. Groundworks were delivered in a controlled sequence starting with set-out and wet-cutting for clean trench lines, then breakout and formation using small plant including a 3T excavator and attachments. We refined edges and levels as needed to keep the finish neat and consistent.

Once the formation was complete, the HydroPlanter units were set out, positioned and levelled, then tied into drainage and guttering runs before reinstating surrounding surfaces and edging. As part of the wider SuDS and drainage works, We also installed ACO drainage channels on a full wet bed, returning after cure to point and complete the surrounding reinstatement.

Planting was completed in a consistent pattern to provide even coverage and a clean, intentional look across the runs. To close out the project, We delivered the final site remedials and tidy up by reinstating disturbed ground, regrading and re-seeding affected grassed areas, adding small safety finishing details, jet-washing surfaces, and checking water flow through channels prior to sign-off.
