Show Garden
Chelsea London Show Garden Design & Build 2021

For RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2021 at the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London, Sustainable Garden Solutions was invited to help deliver The Original Muck Boot Co garden as a design and build collaboration with Kirsty from My Little Allotment. Only a few years into life as a small two-person team, we brought our full energy to a show garden with a clear purpose: mental health, connection to the earth, and a practical raised beds and growing message that visitors could relate to and take home.
Because the show was rescheduled to September, we leaned into the seasonal shift and built a planting scheme that felt richer and warmer than a typical May Chelsea build. We mixed Kirsty’s veg and dahlias with our own sustainable planting staples to create bold colour and early autumn tones that pulled people into the space and supported the “getting your hands in the earth” story.
A major focal point was the 3m x 8m living green wall. We built it and pre-grew it ourselves, nurturing it for around eight months before carefully dismantling it while still alive, relocating it, and reinstalling it on site at Chelsea. Seeing it land and thrive under show conditions was a standout SGS moment and it drew attention throughout the week.
To anchor the garden, we also featured a unique bronze hand sculpture and water feature, bringing movement and sound and giving the space an unforgettable centrepiece. The end result was a vibrant, welcoming show garden that balanced energy and colour with a grounded message of wellbeing and sustainable gardening.
