Smart & Practical Family Garden in Shorne, Gravesend

Sustainable Garden Solutions created a smart, practical family garden in Shorne, Gravesend, designed to make everyday outdoor life easier without sacrificing character, planting or visual appeal.

The layout was completely reworked around how the family actually uses the space. An extended Indian sandstone patio creates a generous entertaining area close to the house, while a dedicated BBQ zone, additional rear patio and direct sandstone pathway connect the different parts of the garden. A separate children's play area, finished with bark chippings and timber stepping posts, creates room for outdoor play without dominating the wider garden.

Planting has been chosen specifically for family life, wildlife value and year-round interest. Child- and pet-safe species combine with pollinator-friendly perennials, shade planting and climbing plants to create a garden that feels established and colourful while remaining robust enough for everyday use.
