Kent Tiered Gardens, Tough Access & Living Walls

This Kent collection captures the reality of what Sustainable Garden Solutions does best: working with levels, tough access, and builds that need both engineering thinking and a horticultural eye.
Across the county, gradient change is the norm, so we’ve become genuinely comfortable delivering tiered gardens on everything from soil to chalk and clay. Sometimes access requires cranes, hiabs and specialist kit. Sometimes it’s pure manual labour. Either way, we’re happy carving out space, solving levels properly, and building structure that makes sites safer, more usable and long-lasting.
These projects often involve the hard working bones of a landscape: retaining structures, steps, brickwork, and reinforcement where needed. We also build what we call living structure when it makes sense, creating frameworks that support planting and soften the engineering so the finished space feels balanced rather than heavy.
Alongside tiered groundworks, this collection reflects our longer involvement in green walling and living walls. From early experiments more than five years ago through to bringing planting into commercial projects where it needs to work harder and still look sharp, these images show the breadth of our approach across both landscape build and planting-led delivery.
